History
The 35th Infantry Regiment was organized on 13 July 1916 in Arizona of men from the 11th, 18th and 22nd Infantry. These units dated back to The War Between the States and their insignia from that era is represented on the 35th Infantry Crest. The 11th Infantry was part of the Union 2d Division, V Corps represented by a white Maltese Cross. The 18th Infantry served in the 1st Division, XIV Corps, their badge was a red acorn. The 22d Infantry is symbolized by the embattled partion line of the canton. The cactus symbolizes theoriginal service of the 35th Infantry along the Mexican Border. The Cacti served with distinction in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. WWII awards included two U. S. Presidential Unit Citations and the Philippine Presidential Unit Citation. In Korea, the Cacti earned three Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citations. In Vietnam where the Cacti fought with both the 4th and 25th Divisions. Company A (2-35) earned a Valorous Unit Award.
Company B (2-35) earned a Presidential Unit Citation.

The Regiment was awarded two awards of the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm and the Vietnamese Civil Action Honor Medal First Class.
